Irene Gonzalez is an Economic Development Specialist within the Boise District to provide support to communities and businesses. She collaborates with city, state and federal departments to outreach to the community to expand economic development, and bridge connection with businesses and the general public. Her role within the SBA also allows her to conduct training and counseling for start-up and existing businesses. Irene’s community involvement is vast; she serves as the Boise District Office Native American Representative, she is active in the Faith Based Community, and participates in various Hispanic and community organizations. Irene has worked for the U.S. Small Business Administration for 29 years and, in 2012, she received the Idaho Aspen Award for helping women sustain healthy small business development in Eastern Idaho. In 2014, Irene was recognized with the Women’s and Children’s Alliance “Tribute to Women and Industry Award,” which honors women who have excelled in their fields and made significant contributions to industry in executive, professional and managerial roles.
