Description

With more people impacted by the disease of addiction and traditional episode treatment not working to sustain long-term recovery, this presentation will explore the science behind the disease of addiction and explain how the brain's reward system works and why addiction, physical health, mental health and trauma issues must all be addressed to sooth the brain and foster healing. The Walker Center has designed a capitation funded program to change the face of episodic treatment with 60 days of residential treatment along with a year long social worker for continued engagement and problem resolution during early recovery. The presentation will explain the model and share data from the first year of implementation.
