Dr. Mattson is a Mayo Clinic-trained obstetrician/gynecologist in Minnesota and currently works as a national medical director for Optum Health. She has experience developing a new transgender clinic at the University of Minnesota Student Health Clinic and sharing her knowledge with providers at Planned Parenthood Minnesota to expand access to transgender care in the community. She volunteers on many committees for LGBTQIA+ health; provides educational seminars on general transgender care as well as on the surgical aspects of transitioning; is involved in a research project addressing the impact of provider education on patient satisfaction scores; works with policy makers to expand benefits for the LGBTQIA+ community; and serves as clinical resource for all things LGBTQIA+. She is passionate about improving the health of this community and ensuring that they get evidence-based care in a safe, respectful and compassionate manner.
