Dr. Kara Connelly

Kara Connelly is an associate professor in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Oregon Health & Science University (OSHU) and is the medical director of the Doernbecher Gender Clinic, which provides comprehensive interdisciplinary care for over 700 transgender and gender diverse children and adolescents, under the umbrella of the OHSU Transgender Health program in Portland, Oregon. She is also interested in caring for children with differences in sexual development and is a co-founder of the Doernbecher Sex Development program. She completed residency in pediatrics, fellowship training in pediatric endocrinology and a master’s of clinical research at OHSU (2010, 2013and 2017). Her research interests are focused on improving access to gender affirming care for transgender and gender diverse youth and developing evidence-based best practices for transgender youth. Dr. Connelly is also active in teaching and education and serves as the director of the resident rotation in pediatric endocrinology.
